Technological Innovation as Enduring Understanding

The jibberish at the bottom of this post was/is a test post using a different blogging platform. I was at my PeachMac one-on-one tutorial Monday night when this was posted.
Technology allows the world to be more connected, but the kinks have to be worked out along the way in order for All of the amazing global collaboration we are about to embark upon to actually take place. My iPad, new iPhone w/iCloud & a better camera, this blog, Edmodo, etc. would not be possible if we were not willing to understand the upsides & downsides to this massive enduring understanding called technological innovation.
As we get ready to launch our global technological collaborative endeavor from Georgia to Ukraine, there are a few folks I need to acknowledge. So here goes.
1) PeachMac at The Avenue W. Cobb: this wouldn't be happening without my iPad plunge on Christmas Eve. The $99 PeachPlus package to get an hour of weekly solo training (or question answering in my case ;-) has made all of this possible. I specially need to give a shout out to Alex, Keri, Chris, & the manager who has humored with simple smiles & nods this bizarre, passionate educator's "lovable intensity" as I've been in most weeks since January. If you want to support local business & an entrepreneurial company, Peach Mac is a great option.
2) Dr. Robert Downs, LMMS Principal: Nothing like getting baptized by fire! Dr. Downs first "official" act in his capacity as LMMS Principal (literally) was to do the on-line recommendation AND permission for me to apply for the Teachers for Global Classrooms program.
3) Cristin Kennedy, CCSD Area 6 Technology Integration Specialist & Trainer: None of this Edmodo adventure with my students collaborating & virtually following this experience would have been dreamt of without her.
4) Gayle Christopher: My entire life I've heard a story that when I was just a little baby I fell off the bed because my parents were so excited about something: their childhood friend was engaged at the ancient age of 31! ;-) His bride-tp-be was a teacher and originally from Pennsylvania named Gayle.
They were at my college graduation & even brought my grandparents, were on the Marietta Square when my handprints were unveiled, etc. Jimmy & Gayle are closer than saying they are kind of like godparents or family; they ARE family.
I don't think I would have bitten the bullet & gotten my iPad if not for Gayle. She got one for Christmas and has been learning too. So, a big thanks to her!! Maybe, just maybe, we'll figure out how to Facetime at least once. :)
As a final aside about Peach Mac, the original Peach Mac is in Athens as far as the zip code goes. In reality, it is in Oconee County on Epps Bridge Parkway across from Lowes & Walmart. One of the major things the former Chair of the OC Board of Commisioners focused on in his last years of his 12 years as chairman was working to bring Walmart's relocation along with Home Depot, Lowes, & Kroger to this area at the end of Highway 316. That person would be my father.
